Prior to counselling, I spent 20 years working in media and marketing. As a result, I am very aware of the importance of communication and the effect this can have on relationships, both personally and professionally. Relationships are fundamental to human existence and can be the root cause of problems, past and present, contributing to the sense of self.
My training as a counsellor was a 4 year part time Level 5 integrative counselling course at The University of Kent at Canterbury. For 7 years I worked as a volunteer counsellor with predominantly secondary mental health clients for an agency in Canterbury and utilised my marketing skills as a director and a member of the Management Team. I also spent 2 years with a counselling charity in Tenterden. I set up my private practice in 2018 and am a Senior Accredited member of both the BACP and NCIP.
I qualified as a supervisor with Bedonwell Counselling, Folkestone, gaining a distinction in the Level 6 Diploma. I supervise individuals and groups in my private practice, including trainee counsellors and psychotherapists on placement at counselling agencies.
