Prior to counselling, I spent 20 years working in media and marketing. As a result, I am very aware of the importance of communication and the effect this can have on relationships, both personally and professionally. Relationships are fundamental to human existence and can be the root cause of problems, past and present, contributing to the sense of self.
My training as a counsellor was a 4-year part time course at The University of Kent at Canterbury. For 7 years I worked as a volunteer counsellor with predominantly secondary mental health clients for an agency in Canterbury where I also utilised my marketing skills as a Director and a member of the Management Team. In addition to working in private practice, my voluntary work continues at a counselling charity based in Tenterden.
I qualified as a supervisor with Bedonwell Counselling, Folkestone, gaining a distinction in the Level 6 Diploma, and offer supervision both in groups and on an individual basis. At a mental health charity in Maidstone, I supervise wellbeing workers, counsellors and psychotherapists, and also undertake supervision through my private practice.
"I sometimes wonder what I will speak about in the counselling session but you are easy to talk to and I find myself covering things I hadn’t expected to address."
