Prior to counselling, I spent 20 years working in media and marketing. As a result, I am very aware of the importance of communication and the effect this can have on relationships, both personally and professionally. Relationships are fundamental to human existence and can be the root cause of problems, past and present, contributing to the sense of self.
My training as a counsellor was a 4 year part time course at The University of Kent at Canterbury. For 7 years I worked as a volunteer counsellor with predominantly secondary mental health clients for an agency in Canterbury and utilised my marketing skills as a Director and a member of the Management Team. I also spent 2 years with a counselling charity in Tenterden. I now offer counselling through my private practice and am a senior accredited member of the BACP.
I qualified as a supervisor with Bedonwell Counselling, Folkestone, gaining a distinction in the Level 6 Diploma. I supervise individuals and groups in my private practice, including supervising groups of trainee counsellors and psychotherapists at an agency in Canterbury.
