To achieve your goals in counselling, the relationship between us is important

Therapy

As your counsellor, I offer individuals a safe, warm, caring and compassionate therapeutic environment face-to-face or remotely on Zoom or on the telephone, creating a space for you where you can examine and reflect on your life, understand your experiences and relationships, explore your emotions and feelings, and find meaning and purpose in confidence, without judgement.

To achieve your goals in counselling, the relationship between us is important - it is what heals. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. It includes an informal assessment to cover the necessary administrative information and I ask you about yourself, what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to achieve. I listen, guide and support you with empathy and understanding, acknowledging the courage it has taken you to come for counselling.

Each session is 50 minutes, the therapeutic hour, and your therapy can be short, medium, long-term or time-limited, depending on your needs. I offer counselling for adults from 16 years upwards and cover a range of issues including:

Abuse, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Carer support, Chronic fatigue system/ME, Depression, Disability, Health related matters, Identity, Infertility, Loss, Men’s issues, OCD, Panic attacks, Personality Disorders, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self harm, Stress, Trauma, Women's concerns, Work related matters.

My integrative model means that I draw on psychodynamic and person-centred theories as well as blending in CBT, humanistic, and relational approaches – depending on what is right for you at the time.

"You reassured me when I was in a dark place and helped me to come out the other side. I don't know how I would have kept going without knowing you were there at the same time same place each week for me and the world did not come to an end when I was able to talk about what happened to me. Thank you for your constant help, support, and listening ear."
